Manchester youngsters squash competition in tournament

Sporting youngsters from East Manchester reigned victorious in a squash tournament at the National Squash Centre last weekend.

Local junior squash team, The City of Manchester, hosted the tournament at Sportcity for visiting squad, The Vale of Lune from Lancaster.

The event was a great success with Manchester's juniors finishing in the top four places. They were also thrilled to have been given use of the National Squash Centre for the tournament and are planning more competitions at the facility in future.

Councillor Mike Amesbury, Executive Member for Culture and Leisure at Manchester City Council said: "The junior squash team are an absolute credit to the city. They were impeccable hosts to The Vale of Lune and also performed extremely well in the tournament. Congratulations to all those involved for their sporting achievements and for representing Manchester so well."

The City of Manchester currently has seven junior squash teams and is looking for even more players. For more information about joining contact Roy on 07515 536 270.
