The wide range of activities on offer to young people in Charlestown, Moston and Harpurhey will be highlighted in an event on Thursday 21 August.

The free funday, hosted by North City Youth Activity Group which brings together all the youth providers in the area, takes place at Broadhurst Fields in Moston between 1pm - 4pm . Activies at the event will include a football tournament, mini-Olympics, climbing wall, street dancing, arts and crafts and much more. Young people will have the chance to find out all about the sports clubs and youth services available to them all year round.

Councillor Mike Amesbury, Executive Member for Culture and Leisure at Manchester City Council, said: "The event is an excellent example of the work carried out by the various youth providers in North Manchester and offers a good opportunity for young people in the area to get involved in a range of activities. Hopefully this can then act as a springboard for those attending the fun day to take advantage of the services on a long-term basis."

Face painters and DJs will also be present to supply entertainment throughout the afternoon. The Police and Fire service will also have representatives there, not only to oversee the event, but also to be on the receiving end of wet sponge throwing!
