With October half term just around the corner, keeping youngsters entertained can be a daunting task for parents.
Help is at hand however in the form of free swimming sessions for 8-16 year old across Manchester.
Manchester City Council's Leisure Services are offering free swimming at a number of leisure centres for children who either have a Manchester postcode or who attend school in the city. All they need to do is register at their chosen participating swimming pool on their first visit and they will then be entitled to swim for free during any half term holiday.
Councillor Mike Amesbury, Executive Member for Culture and Leisure said: "In offering free swimming to young people throughout Manchester we are helping alleviate financial pressures on families trying to keep children entertained throughout the holidays, and are also encouraging youngsters to take part in physical activity which will help them stay fit and healthy, while having a lot of fun with their friends."
Swimming pools offering free half term swimming for 8-16 year olds are:
- North Manchester - Abraham Moss Leisure Centre, Crumpsall Broadway Leisure Centre, New Moston North City Family & Fitness Centre, Harpurhey
- East Manchester - Miles Platting Swimming Pool
- South Manchester - Chorlton Leisure Centre, Forum Leisure Wythenshawe, Levenshulme Swimming Pool, Withington Leisure Centre
