An exhibition commemorating the 90th anniversary of the First World War has gone on display at Central Library.
Lest We Forget 1918 - 2008 has been put together by local historian and enthusiast David Harrop, and includes an array of memorabilia and artifacts from his own personal collection.
Medals, photographs, letters to family and sweethearts, greeting cards to the front and newspaper cuttings are just some of the items on display giving a very local insight into the affects of the Great War on Manchester people.
Councillor Mike Amesbury, Executive Member for Culture and Leisure said: "The exhibition marks a very important anniversary and includes many local connections. It's a very thought-provoking display, especially as we approach the eleventh of November and remember all those who lost their lives and I would encourage anyone passing Central Library to take time to look at this interesting and insightful collection."
The exhibition is located on the first floor of Central Library, outside the Local Studies department and is free of charge. It will run until 29 November 2008.
