Northenden Food Market Christmas Fayre
9 December 2008
Northenden Food Market is holding a special Christmas market on Saturday 20 December 2008 so locals can stock up on some last minute festive treats and luxury essentials.
The specialist market, which usually takes place on the first Saturday of every month, will be opening twice in December so those that miss out on the first date still have a chance to browse for delectable goodies such as Pam Box's pork and cranberry pies, punchy pickles from Parker's Preserves, Pendle Pat-a-Cake's home made Christmas puddings and cakes, delicious black pudding from the Real Lancashire Black Pudding Company plus fresh game and poultry for a delicious Christmas dinner from Dan O'Neil and not forgetting the essential hot roast chestnuts.
To kick-start the festive mood, entertainment will also be in store in the form of a jazz band rolling out those familiar Christmas melodies and carols sung sweetly by members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.
And it's not just Christmas that Northenden Food Market is celebrating. It is also one year since the market was launched in 2007. The monthly market is now an extremely popular fixture within the Northenden community and showcases local producers from across the North West.
Councillor Paul Andrews, Executive Member for Neighbourhood Services said: "The Christmas market in Northenden is the ideal place to help stock the cupboards with fresh, local produce ready for Christmas. It is also great for any last minute bits and pieces that people may have forgotten and with the bustling, happy atmosphere, for which the market is renowned, it is a lovely alternative to the usual supermarket crush."
Northenden Food Market is open from 10am - 4pm and is located on the slip road of Palatine Road, Northenden For more Manchester Markets information visit www.manchester.gov.uk/markets
