Christmas Market comes to Wythenshawe

9 December 2008

Families looking for Christmas bargains will be spoilt for choice at Wythenshawe Christmas Market, which will be open every Tuesday, Friday and Saturday until Christmas.

The market is part of Wythenshawe's Christmas events programme, which includes a wide range of regeneration activities in the town, funded by Manchester City Council with The Forum, St Modwen's Properties and other partners. These include improvements to property and transport links, encouraging investment in local business and supporting training and employment initiatives for local people.

The market offers everything from hot food and drinks, including non-alcoholic gluhwein, hot carvery and winter favourites such as hotpot, and fresh vegetables for the Christmas dinner, to fantastic gifts and fashion accessories. There's holly and mistletoe to decorate your home and Christmas partywear and perfume to make you feel a million dollars. There's also traditional sweets and confectionary and much much more.

Councillor Paul Andrews, Executive Member for Neighbourhood Services at Manchester City Council said: "Wythenshawe Christmas market offers everything for those shopping for the festive season. The market offers great value for money and will help all our hard-earned cash stretch further this Christmas so we can all get on with enjoying ourselves. As part of Wythenshawe's festive programme it is a unique shopping experience that families can enjoy and is a pleasant alternative to the hectic supermarket aisles."

Most of the Christmas activities and attractions in Wythenshawe are free of charge and will include appearances from Santa's husky dogs and reindeer, a walkabout snowman and an animatronic polar bear.

Wythenshawe Christmas Market is located in the town centre and is easily accessible from A34 Kingsway, A560 Altrincham Road and the M60 or M56 motorways.

It will be open on the usual trading days, every Tuesday and Friday between 9am and 4.30pm and Saturday between 9am and 5pm from 6 to 23 December.
