Community Governance Review – have your say
26 May 2009
Manchester residents are being asked to have their say on the community governance arrangements in their area.
Community governance is about giving residents a say in the way their community is run. It concerns how local communities are involved and able to influence decisions. This can take many forms including ward councillors' surgeries, ward co-ordination (through which residents are consulted on their priorities for improving their area so Council services can be co-ordinated to address them), residents' and tenant associations, civic societies, focus groups and surveys etc.
City Council leader Sir Richard Leese said: "We value the contribution which residents make to improving the quality of life across the city and it's important that everyone has the opportunity to take part in the review. The Council is asking residents and interested bodies what they think about current community governance arrangements in their area and suggestions for the future."
The citywide consultation runs until 10 June. To find out more and to take part return to our home page and click on the link.
