Market traders in Wythenshawe are organising fund-raising events to help support people with cancer every day next week.
From Monday to Saturday (24 to 29 August) all 14 stalls at the market will be offering shoppers the chance to find out about services provided by Macmillan Cancer Support and to buy charity badges or make donations.
Shoppers will also have the chance to win a widescreen TV in a raffle in aid of the charity.
Children will also be able to join in the fun. There will be Hunt the Word competitions on Tuesday and Saturday then on Saturday a DJ will entertain people visiting the market and there will be a bouncy castle for the children, with proceeds going to the charity. Macmillan nurses will also be there to talk to people about the charity's role.
Carol Rowley, Chairperson of Wythenshawe Market Traders' Committee, said: "Everyone is touched by cancer and all the events we have planned try to inform the local community about the valuable services provided by Macmillan Cancer Support as well as raising much-needed funds towards the charity's work."
Councillor Paul Andrews, Manchester City Council's Executive member for Neighbourhood Services, said: "The market is at the very heart of the community in Wythenshawe and I'm pleased to see this event getting people involved in supporting such a worthy cause."
