Finest food at Manchester Markets

1 October 2009

Manchester Fine Food Market is back in St Ann’s Square, tempting shoppers, workers and visitors with a wide-ranging and sumptuous menu, straight from farms and restaurants throughout the local region.

As part of the Manchester Food and Drink Festival, the market will be located in the St Ann's Square Fine Food Village from Wednesday 30 September until Sunday 11 October.

The market will be open daily 10am to 6pm offering the best that the northwest has to offer from locally farmed meats and smoked cheeses, to jams and marmalades, freshly baked cakes and home made confectionary.

City centre restaurant Leonis Latin Cellar will be offering their trademark fusion of Latin American, Spanish and Italian flavours, while Mrs Kirkham's Lancashire Cheese, famous for three generations of home farmed cheese will be offering everything from traditional tasty and mild & creamy to parsley & garlic and oak & apple smoked.

Homemade liquorice, fudge and toffee will satisfy any sweet tooth and the hot burgers, sausages and soups will be a lovely warming lunch, while tipples such as sloe and blackberry gin, strawberry vodka and damson beer will be a delicious accompaniment to any meal and will grace the tables of any dinner party with style.

Add to this the variety of Turkish, Indian, Greek and traditional British Cuisine available and there is plenty to delight any food lover.

Councillor Paul Andrews, Manchester City Council's Executive Member for Neighbourhood Services said:"The Fine Food Market offers excellent quality and excellent choice. It's a great opportunity to work in partnership with the Manchester Food and Drink Festival to showcase the best of the region's produce while supporting local businesses."

Manchester Markets aim to bring a variety of the best foods farmed and produced in the northwest into the city as well as helping small businesses develop by offering them the opportunity to trade in central Manchester.
