Don’t lose your right to vote
1 October 2009
As party conference season continues, Manchester residents are being reminded to return their electoral registration forms if they want to vote in the next General and Local Elections.
Anyone who has not already returned their registration forms is being encouraged to do so now. City Council canvass staff will be calling at the properties of residents who have not returned their forms in the next few weeks, and will be able to help anyone who may be having difficulties filling in their form or needing further advice.
The law requires each household to fill in the electoral registration form. As well as potentially losing the right to vote, failure to return a completed electoral registration form may also make it difficult to obtain credit as credit agencies use the register when they check your credit rating.
A Manchester City Council spokesman said: "It's important that all households return a completed electoral registration form as soon as possible. Don't lose your right to vote."
