Small businesses in Wythenshawe are about to be helped to raise their profile on the internet thanks to a series of free workshops at the Forum Library, starting this week.
In total there are four sessions, which start with website design through to converting visitors to customers and online payment methods.
The practical workshops, which last two hours each are free and are run by Manchester City Council and Manchester Digital Development Agency. The project also fits into the council's Helping Hands campaign, which has been designed to help residents through the recession.
The 'Selling on the Web' workshops at the Forum Library, Wythenshawe are as follows:
Thursday 11 February, 5.30 - 7.45 - What makes a good website
Thursday 18 February, 5.30 - 7.45 - Choosing the right payment system
Thursday 25 February, 5.30 - 7.45 - Marketing and social networks
Thursday 4 March, 5.30 - 7.45 - Search engine optimisation and advertising.
Businesses attending the workshops will also be given the chance to attend a subsequent workshop at a later date covering the legal aspects of selling online.
Councillor Sue Murphy, Executive Member for Employment and skills at Manchester City Council, said: "These days it's critical for businesses to make the most of their online marketing as so many customers want to buy over the internet or find out more about goods or services. All the workshops have a hands-on approach and are not only educational, but are also a great form of networking."
