Council leader takes time out

Sir Richard Leese has taken some temporary time out from his duties as leader of the Council to resolve family issues.

We consider this to be a private matter for Sir Richard and his family and we respect his decision.

The deputy leaders of Manchester City Council, Councillors Jim Battle and Val Stevens, have taken over the leader's responsibilities for the duration of his absence.
