Family fun day with bags of appeal

25 June 2010

The annual Peel Hall Park Family Fun Day is being held on Sunday (4 July).

As usual the Wythenshawe venue has a day brimming with free activities for all ages to enjoy.

The event, which is organised by Peel Hall Moatwatch (friends of park group) and Manchester City Council, features knockout entertainment including a martial arts performance and a high-profile falcon display. And, the day is due to get off to a swing with live music from the Ged Hone Flexi-Jazz band.

Last year more than two thousand people attended the day and this year a similar turnout is expected especially as there are so many children's activities from donkey rides, to face-painting and a Punch and Judy show.

Councillor Mike Amesbury, Executive Member for Culture and Leisure at Manchester City Council, said: "This will be an action-packed day bringing families and communities together in an historic and beautiful park. It's always a good-natured day with lots of laughter."

Peel Hall gets its name from the ancient Peel Hall, an Elizabethan moated manor house and farm. The moated site was probably established in the 14th century and is classed as an ancient monument by English Heritage.

Peel Hall Park Fun Day will be held on Sunday 4 July, 11am - 4pm. For more information, please ring 0161 998 2117.
