Discover the unexpected at Manchester’s Arts and Crafts Market

3 August 2010

St Ann’s Square will be awash with colourful creations from across the globe between 6 and 15 August as part of Manchester’s annual Arts and Crafts Fair.

The market is a prime opportunity to stock up on some unique one-off gifts, homewares, and design pieces including original jewellery, bags, glassware, mirrors, ornaments, textiles, art and photography, clocks, stationery, aromatherapy products and lots more.

Items from more far-flung shores include fairly traded gift items from Africa, Indian crafts and other fashion items and accessories.

The market stalls are joined by a summer cocktail bar, serving refreshing glasses of Pimms, wine, fruit smoothies and tea and cakes.

There is a tantalising selection of international food and drink to be enjoyed in a spacious outdoor seating area with dishes from India, Spain, South America, Denmark and England.

Choose from Spanish paella, chorizo rolls, chicken wraps or burritos, all washed down with a choice of refreshing beverages including chilled British wine or locally brewed ales.

Councillor Paul Andrews, Manchester City Council's executive member for neighbourhood services said: "The Arts and Crafts Market offers some unusual and original pieces for city centre shoppers and has a regular following of visitors keen to snap up something special . The market is definitely worth more than one visit as the craft stalls change throughout the market so there is always something new to discover."

The market will be open from 6 August until 15 August between 10am and 5.30pm in St Ann's Square.
