Brooklands Library opens its doors
8 October 2010
A fantastic new community library is coming to Brooklands, west Wythenshawe, in October.
This brand new, purpose-built library will be a bright, welcoming space, open to everyone, with hundreds of new books and DVDs, newspapers, magazines and free, fast internet access.
New technology means you'll be able to issue and return your own books quickly and easily. There are bright and exciting areas for children and teenagers, a homework club and lots of fun sessions for pre-school children.
Brooklands Library also features specialist information services. Appointments can be made with trained staff who can help you get started on computers, offer employment and training advice, find health information, including support from Macmillan Outreach Workers.
Councillor Mike Amesbury, Manchester City Council's executive member for culture and leisure said: "This fantastic new library will be of great benefit to the local community offering a wide range of services and information and I'm sure Brooklands' residents will be extremely pleased with their new facility."
He added: "Brooklands Library is one of four new libraries to open across Manchester this year, reaffirming our commitment to the city's library service."
Anyone with a Manchester library card is already a member at Brooklands - and if you don't have a card, joining is quick, easy and free.
You'll find Brooklands Library on Moor Road, off Altrincham Road, alongside the new Manchester Health Academy. Doors open Monday 11 October.
The library will be open Monday to Saturday 9am until 5pm, with a late night until 8pm on Tuesday.
