Manchester City Council election results 2011

The results of this year's local elections for Manchester have been published.

Voters went to the polls on Thursday 5 May to choose one third of the council (one of the three seats in each ward) plus a councillor to fill an additional vacancy in Burnage.

The composition of the council is now:
Labour: 75
Liberal Democrat: 20
Independent: 1
 
Voters yesterday also took part in the referendum on whether to change the system used for UK Parliamentary elections to the Alternative Voting System. The Manchester count, and the counts for all local authority areas around the country, take place on Friday 6 May.
