Join the festivities at Crumpsall’s celtic carnival

22 June 2011

Crumpsall is set to celebrate in style with its annual carnival on Sunday 26 June.

Up to 6,000 people got into the carnival spirit at last year's event and this year the carnival promises to be every bit as thrilling.

This year's celtic themed carnival will bring a party atmosphere to Crumpsall with colourful costumes, dancing and live music throughout the afternoon.

The parade starts from Herristone Park at 12.30pm, making its way to Crumpsall Park, Ash Tree Road, where the main event runs from 1pm to 5pm.

The Lord Mayor of Manchester, Councillor Harry Lyons JP, will officially open the carnival at Crumpsall Park at 1pm.

Among the many attractions on the day there will be performances from local talent show finalists, music from brass bands, a fairground and sports competitions.

The event is organised by the Friends of Crumpsall Park in partnership with Manchester City Council.

City Council leader Sir Richard Leese said, "The Crumpsall Carnival has established itself as an unmissable event in North Manchester's social calendar and really is something to look forward to. It's going to be colourful, it's going to be lively and above all it's going to be fun."

Tom Sogbetun, Chair of the Friends of Crumpsall Park, said: "The carnival just seems to get bigger and better every year. Everyone who comes along is sure to have a brilliant family fun day out. Last year was phenomenal this year is set to be even more exciting."
