Parrs Wood High School governors announce Headteacher appointment

Governors at Parrs Wood High School in Didsbury, have announced the appointment of Mr Andy Shakos to the post of Headteacher.

Mr Shakos has been Acting Head at the school since September last year 2010, and his appointment follows a national recruitment process that attracted a strong field of candidates from across the country.

Chair of Governors, Suzannah Reeves, who is also Assistant Executive Member Children's Services, Manchester City Council, said: "After a very rigorous recruitment process the governors made a unanimous decision to appoint Mr Shakos to the post of Headteacher.  His appointment marks a significant step forwards in terms of securing the future success of the school.

"As someone who knows the school, staff, and pupils, very well, he has already proved himself to have the trust, support and vision that is required to ensure that all of our pupils, now and in the future, achieve their full potential."

Andy Shakos, Headteacher, said: "I feel honoured to have been appointed to the post of headteacher at Parrs Wood High School.

"The school is continuing to make accelerated improvements in standards and achievement, and at their last inspection Ofsted reported good progress in making improvements and good progress in demonstrating a better capacity for sustained improvement.

"We are looking forward to this year's exam results and I would like to thank pupils, parents, carers and our dedicated team of staff and governors for all their hard work and support.

"I am committed to ensuring that our local community has the outstanding school it deserves."

Mr Shakos was appointed to the post of Headteacher on 1 July.
