Season’s Tweetings! Manchester Santa joins Twitter’s Christmas chorus.
25 November 2011
Hark! There’s a new star in the Twittersphere.
This Christmas a very familiar face will be joining the host of celebrities sharing their thoughts. Manchester's Christmas Santa will be sharing his unique perspective on the season from his vantage point perched above the entrance to Manchester Town Hall, overlooking Albert Square.
From letting people know about highlights of Manchester's fun-packed Christmas programme to simply spreading some of his trademark jollity, Manchester's Santa will be merrily tweeting away.
Councillor Pat Karney, Manchester's Christmas spokesman, said: "Santa has told us that Manchester is his favourite city but now he's going to be sending that message to the world. I'll be hanging on his every word, and I'm sure people from Manchester and beyond will be following him too."
Andrew Stokes, chief executive of Marketing Manchester, said: "The Christmas Santa in Albert Square is a focal point of the city's festive celebrations. Given the popularity of Twitter with Mancunians, it made sense to bring to two together as part of the 'MCR Loves Christmas' campaign. I for one look forward to following MCRSanta's take on the countdown to the big day."
Follow him on Twitter via MCRSanta from this, Friday 25 November.
