Commemoration of 22 May 2017: Statement from Sir Richard Leese

Sir Richard Leese, Leader of Manchester City Council, said: "Neither the horrendous events of 22 May 2017 nor Manchester's dignified and inspiring response to them will ever be forgotten.

“In the weeks and months ahead we will be giving serious thought to how they are permanently commemorated in the city. This will of course be in careful consultation with the families who lost loved-ones, and others affected by the attack.

“People should be assured that we will together ensure a fitting memorial, although it is too early to specify what form this will take."
