This year’s Manchester Day photo competition attracted a fantastic response - but a winner has been found from among the hundreds of dazzling submissions.
Josh Roberts from Stockport scooped the top prize with his picture of the Indian Association’s incredible structure.
The Manchester Day Photo Competition judges felt the picture perfectly encapsulated the scale, colour and movement of the parade, and embodied the celebration of community and diversity that underpins the celebration.
Josh will take away the top prize – a new generation Apple iPad Air 2 with 64GB of storage.
Ellen Macpherson from Didsbury took second prize with their delightful picture of the parade’s Ghanaian group in full flow, showing the true joy of participating in Manchester Day with eye popping colours and movement.
Ellen now has another reason to celebrate in Manchester's city centre, wining an overnight's stay in the glamorous surroundings of the ABode Manchester hotel, including dinner with arrival cocktails and full English breakfast.
Third prize goes to Mark Barnes from Huddersfield who will enjoy a three course meal for two people, with complementary bottle of Harvey Nichols Champagne, at their Second Floor Bar and Brasserie.
Each of the prize winners and a selection of the best of the rest will be showcased on the Manchester Day website.
One of the biggest outdoor events in the UK, this year's Manchester Day saw more than 2,000 participants, from more than 80 community groups, take to the streets for a spectacular parade through the city and entertainment in the city squares.
This year’s Manchester Day parade included a special tribute to those who lost their lives and those who were injured during the Manchester Arena attack, while celebrating the efforts of the emergency services.
Cllr Pat Karney, Chair of Manchester Day, said: "Manchester Day is my favourite day of the year - it's wonderful to look through all of the submitted pictures showing the fantastic times had by all. Thank you to all the entrants who have reminded me that nothing quite matches up to the atmosphere around Manchester Day.
"As always, choosing the winners has been incredibly difficult - the standard of photography has been first class. There was so many stand-out moments throughout the day and I’m already looking forward to next year. Well done to our winners!”
