Our Manchester grants programme launched

A new voluntary and community sector grant scheme, called the Our Manchester Voluntary and Community Sector grants programme will be launched at the beginning of September.

The new scheme replaces a range of existing funds, bringing them together into a single grants programme managed by the Council.

It is aimed at voluntary and community sector organisations with a track-record of delivering services to Manchester communities.

Applicants must deliver activities and services which fit with the Our Manchester principles of creating a thriving skilled city, filled with talent, which is fair to everyone, a great place to live with organisations working together to build relationships and connect people.

The programme has been designed by the council alongside representatives from the local Clinical Commissioning Group and a range of local voluntary and community sector organisations.

Councillor Sue Murphy, Deputy Leader of Manchester City Council said: "The voluntary and community sector is a vital part of the fabric of the city delivering essential services in communities across the city so it was important in the spirit of 'Our Manchester' that they help us to redesign our grants programme. Their work brings benefits to all our neighbourhoods, connecting people, responding to local needs and emergencies, volunteering opportunities and  providing people with a sense of ownership of their communities so we must continue to invest in the right organisations to support and improve all our communities across the city."

Applications for funding run for a six week period  from 4 September 2017 to 16 October 2017.
