Cathedral Gardens will be used an alternative venue for those wishing to watch and take part in the Manchester Together – With One Voice event.
The event itself is taking place in Albert Square from 7pm to 9pm culminating in a mass singalong from 8.30 to 9pm but if the square becomes full, a big screen in Cathedral Gardens will offer people the opportunity to join in just down the road.
Manchester Together – With One Voice is part of a programme marking one year since the Manchester Arena terror attack. It will see an array of choirs coming together in song to share the spirit of solidarity and remember all those affected by the Arena attack, with a huge singalong finale.
Manchester Together – With One Voice starts from 7pm with video messages before a short civic introduction leading into the choral but people are advised to come earlier to ensure they can get in.
For anyone who can’t make it or does not wish to attend but still want to join in, it is also planned to broadcast the singalong on BBC Radio Manchester, Key 103, BBC Radio Five Live, Manchester XS, Tower FM and Gaydio.
Earlier in the day Cathedral Gardens will host a live screening of the National Service of Commemoration from Manchester Cathedral from 2-3pm. The service is being broadcast on BBC2.
