Parks and open spaces

Flowers in Alexandra Park

Find a park or playground and learn more about Manchester's open spaces.

Manchester offers 138 parks, gardens and open spaces, 40 allotment sites and an additional 25 nature conservation sites within the city's Irk, Medlock and Mersey river valleys.

Manchester's parks are a very important educational, environmental, cultural, health and economic resource for the city. They are places where people can play, socialise, exercise, get active, experience the 'great outdoors', learn about wildlife and take part in a wide choice of leisure activities and cultural festivals.

Green Flag Awards

In 2009, Manchester's parks achieved 29 Green Flag Awards for meeting the national standard of excellence for parks and green spaces in England and Wales.
