Exceeding expectations - ending homophobia
Ending homophobia through education
'Exceeding Expectations' supports schools in tackling homophobic bullying. It is part of Children's Services Equality Strategy and has the backing of Manchester Safeguarding Children's Board.
It's a multi-agency partnership between Manchester City Council Children's Services, the Lesbian and Gay Foundation, Manchester Healthy Schools Partnership, Hope Theatre Company, Albert Kennedy Trust, Lesbian and Gay Youth Manchester and 42nd Street.
Exceeding Expectations website
The partnership has been funded to support secondary schools in the city to combat homophobia and homophobic bullying. The initiative will provide schools with resources, advice, training and theatre in education to support existing anti-bullying measures and policies.
It will help schools safeguard young people from bullying and discrimination and assist in all our attempts to create a safe and happy learning environment.
Newsletters
As part of this initiative a series of newsletters have been produced for all staff working in school settings to highlight a 'zero tolerance' campaign against homophobic bullying.
