Women
International Women’s Day 2010
Grant Application Process
Manchester City Council is keen to fund local groups to host International Women's Day Celebrations in March 2010.
International Women's Day was first celebrated 19 March 1911 in Germany, Austria, Denmark and other European countries. International Women's Day has gone from strength to strength with events being held to mark the day all over the world. The day is an opportunity to celebrate women's achievements and continued aspirations for equality in all aspects of life all over the globe.
Theme 2010 - Women in Action
This year's theme is Women in Action. We want to support projects that celebrate women and support women to take an active role in society whether in sport, politics, the arts, history, business or community and voluntary work. We are also keen to support projects that encourage women, including young women to be active citizens.
Manchester City Council are keen to promote projects that:
- Are innovative and engage a diverse range of women
- Involve different groups working in partnership
- Link into the theme
- Involve young women
