Spring Market
Manchester Spring Market
Spring is in the air with this market, opening on Friday 8 May and running until Monday 25 May. It will take root in St Ann's Square and will wind its way down Exchange Street and New Cathedral Street. Nearly 100 stalls decked-out in flowers will sell everything from arts, crafts and jewellery to clothing and home accessories and a wide variety of fine food and drink. The market will be a perfect place to meet friends and enjoy some spring sunshine or to shop for unusual items for you and your home.
St Ann's Square will be bursting with stalls selling things like fine art photography, hand crafted baskets, hand made textiles and other decorative home wares. A spring beer garden will provide a haven to relax and quench the thirst with a fresh smoothie or a nice cuppa or why not try the selection of local beer, British wines, PIMMS and even Champagne?
You will also find an assortment of cuisines including a barbeque, game pie, chorizo sausage, paella, fresh curries, Dutch waffles, pancakes, local and Dutch cheese, olives and herbs. For those with green fingers there will be a selection of dinky bonsai trees.
Live entertainment to suit all tastes will feature every day including a steel drum band, opera singers, and Morris dancers.
A carpet of flowers will cover Exchange Street courtesy of Dirk the famous Dutch Flower Man. He will be selling his blooms of flowers, plants and hanging baskets to anybody wishing to brighten-up their home or garden for the spring/summer season.
New Cathedral Street is the jewel in the crown with over 40 arts and crafts stalls including glass art, hand made jewellery, original fashions, Indian carvings and rugs and a wide selection of other unique accessories. It will also be a foodie haven with a variety of food stalls offering hand made liquorice, fudge and toffees and specialist jams and chutneys. There will be an open-air food court featuring authentic Turkish cuisine and offering a chance to pause and unwind with a coffee and slice of homemade cake.
