Connect and Learn with lifelong librariesAnnoyed by the constant mention of websites on TV and radio? Want to help the kids with their homework? Fancy a spot of eBay shopping or selling?

Then it's time to Connect and Learn, with Lifelong Libraries. New computer skills can change your life and it's much easier than you might think!

  • We offer basic training sessions in the library for Manchester residents who are complete beginners (aged 16+) - from switching on and surfing the Web to using email and word processing
  • Learn one-to-one with one of our ICT Facilitators, or if you want to bring along a partner or friend, that's fine
  • Sessions, which last about an hour, are easy to book. They're also completely free. There's no commitment beyond the session you've booked and absolutely no tests to do
  • We offer sessions in the evenings and at weekends too, so you can learn at your own pace, in your own time
  • At your first visit we'll talk about what you want to find out, then we'll put together an informal learning plan. It helps us go forward if you have a think beforehand about what you'd like to learn and also tell us if you've ever used a computer before
  • We can offer up to six one-to-one sessions, which is usually more than enough to get you on your way and doing lots of things by yourself
  • There is no certificate or qualification for the learning we do together, but why stop there? Once you have a bit of computer confidence, you can take it further. We can help you find an accredited computer course

Most of our local libraries have a dedicated computer trainer. Find out if there is one at a library near you
