Unitary Development Plan (UDP)
About the Unitary Development Plan
The Unitary Development Plan (UDP) sets out policies for land use and development in Manchester and decisions on planning applications and future developments are based on the policies in this plan. The UDP was adopted by the Council on 21 July 1995.
This statutory document sets out guidelines for all development in Manchester and is used as a framework from which to base decisions about planning applications.
Work has begun to prepare a Local Development Framework (LDF), which will replace the UDP as the development plan for Manchester.
The Manchester Plan UDP can be viewed online using the Planning Portal's Local Information section. A printed copy is also available to be viewed in Planning reception on Level 7 of the Town Hall Extension.
