Cemeteries and Crematoria

Introduction

Manchester City Council is responsible for the running and maintenance of five cemeteries and one crematorium in the city:

  • Blackley Cemetery - Opened 1953
  • Blackley Crematorium - Opened 1959
  • Gorton Cemetery - Opened 1900
  • Manchester General Cemetery - Opened 1837
  • Philips Park Cemetery - Opened 1866
  • Southern Cemetery - Opened 1879

Before visiting a grave or memorial, you should familiarise yourself with the cemetery byelaws and regulations you should follow when visiting a cemetery.
