Sheltered housing for older people

How to get sheltered housing

You need to be registered for rehousing to get a sheltered home offered by one of the not-for-profit landlords in the the Manchester Housing Register - a joint rehousing system between Manchester City Council and other local landlords.

If you are not registered, start your registration online.

Make sure you say on the form that you're looking for sheltered accommodation.

Finding a home

Once you're registered, the landlords in the Manchester Housing Register will consider you for homes that come up in the area you want.

But you can increase your chances by checking on the Homefinder website, and in 'Homefinder Weekly' the printed listing of available homes. Some homes are 'first-come-first-served', so you may be able to move in almost straight away.
