Our aim is to oversee the delivery of Manchester's climate change action plan - Manchester: A Certain Future (MACF)
MACF has two aims:
- to reduce the city of Manchester's carbon emissions by 41% by 2020;
- to engage all individuals, neighbourhoods and organisations in a process of cultural change that embeds 'low carbon' thinking into the lifestyles and operations of the city.
We are committed to reducing our own emissions and practices as well as helping others to do the same across the city. This will be achieved through working on the following themes:
- public and commercial building retrofit;
- private and domestic retrofit;
- sustainable energy;
- sustainable consumption and production;
- sustainable transport (Travel Change Team) ;
- green and Blue Infrastructure (biodiversity);
- business (Environmental Business Pledge) ;
- environmental education;
- sustainable events;
- third sector;
- carbon literacy;
- carbon Metrics.
