Europe and Manchester

At today's City Council Executive meeting, following a minutes silence in respect for the victims of terrorism in Istanbul, for Jo Cox and for all the other victims of terrorism since the committee last met, I made the following statement on the outcome of the EU referendum.

Referendum over. A clear victory for Leave but still no clue to what happens next. If we are to avoid a flight of investment and a loss of jobs, what is needed is quick and decisive action from government.

The Modern City

I'm writing this post from the West Yorkshire Combined Authority offices in Leeds following meetings of Transport for the North, the Association of Rail North Partnership Authorities, and a brief Rail North Ltd Board meeting, all far more interesting than they probably sound. At 4pm I'm dialling into a LGA task and finish group on business rate localisation before getting the train to Hull where I'm speaking at a Humberside business summit.

Collaboration and Integration - the way to a Healthier Manchester

During the course of last year, Manchester's Health and Well-Being Board started the process of developing its Locality Plan, it's route to integrating and improving Health and Care services in the city, as part of proposals to improve services across the whole of Greater Manchester. Our locality plan is built on three pillars, a single commissioning function, a single out of hospital service, and a single hospital service.
