Most of the day has been spent in budget preparations in anticipation of what is expected to be another miserable budget settlement from government due to be announced just before Christmas.

Today's post isn't about tomorrow's election but thought a timely reminder wouldn't go amiss. There is a Police Commissioner election across Greater Manchester. It's important. Whoever gets elected will set policing policy in Manchester for the next four years so please vote.

Most pleasurable part of yesterday was first the pulling and then the drinking of the " first " pint at the beautifully restored Memorial Hall on Albert Square, formerly the Square Albert and now the Albert Square Chop House. Most interesting part of the day followed a short tram ride to the Quays for a conference organised by Nesta ( National Endowment for Science, Technology and Arts - that's everything isn't it? ) on innovation in the north west.

A break from all things green last night as I did my Advice Bureau but back to climate change this morning at a presentation organised by Constructing Excellence looking at energy efficiency of non-domestic buildings. A bit scary really.
