Where does it all come from

Might have been able to keep up with my e-mails last week but not with the pile of paper covering my desk, a big chunk of which I need to read before tomorrow, most of the rest for meetings on Wednesday and Thursday, so don't be surprised if this is ( even ) shorter than usual. Need to get reading!

In between there is still the odd meeting to go to. Mid-morning I meet with the other judges to decide the City Council's Employee of the Year Award. Three outstanding nominees on the shortlist but I'm not going to give any clues to the winner. All will be revealed at our Awards for Excellence event in October. Later I talk to and answer questions from a new intake of graduate trainees working in Personnel, Capital Projects, and Finance. The Graduate Trainee programme is into its second decade now, giving a number of good graduates an entry into local government. This evening it's back to the real bread and butter of being a Councillor with a meeting on the Abraham Moss Centre immediately followed by a meeting of the Blackley Village Steering Group - Council officers, ward councillors and local residents coming together to oversee the slow but steady renaissance of this important corner of North Manchester.
