The Big Picture

In London today for the second meeting between AGMA's Chair and Vice Chairs and Government Ministers about the Manchester city-region pilot. Don't make the pre-meeting as the train is getting on for an hour late because of problems with overhead power lines near Hemel Hempstead.

Can't understand how with all that money spent on the West Coast mainline there are still problems like this. The meeting itself goes very well with positive discussions on skills, building a low carbon economy, transport, governance and housing. Less positive on science and research but still progress being made. On schedule for formal agreement being reached in the middle of December. Not on schedule for the journey home. 20 minutes late already and we haven't left so looking very dodgy for my 6.30 meeting this evening.
