School and local authority contact details
Baguley Hall Primary School, Ackworth Drive, Manchester M23 1LB. This is a foundation primary school.
The contact address for the Local Authority is:
School Organisation, Manchester City Council, PO Box 532, Town Hall Extension, Manchester M60 2LA.
Proposed alteration
We propose to set up a 30-place Special Educational Needs (SEN) Unit at Baguley Hall Primary School.
The SEN unit will be for pupils with Education, Health and Care Plans. The primary type of needs it will cater for are Autistic Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and Speech, Language, and Communication Needs (SLCN).
Changes will be made to existing space in the school to provide suitable facilities. Specialist teaching rooms, sensory spaces, and safe outdoor spaces will be created.
Why we are proposing this
More children in Manchester need specialist SEN support. This proposal would:
- Provide local school places for children with SEN
- Reduce the need for long journeys to school
- Help children stay connected to their local community
- Support inclusive education alongside mainstream pupils
How places would be allocated
Places would be allocated by the Local Authority through the SEN placement process. They would not be offered through the usual school admissions system.
The school’s mainstream pupil admissions number would stay the same.
When it would open
If the proposal is approved, the SEN Unit would open from September 2026.
