About the awards
We were delighted by the success of the Manchester Culture Awards in 2018 and 2019; we knew that the city is alive with creative activity, and the brilliant nominations we received in the first two years of this awards scheme proved that, without a doubt, to be the case.
Now we’re launching the Manchester Culture Awards 2021.
We want to hear about the great events in the last two* years: the people, projects and shows, large or small, international or local. This is your chance to nominate the people, organisations and groups that you think made a creative buzz in Manchester.
What do we mean by culture?
For these awards, your nominee must be involved in one or more of the following areas:
- visual art
- film and broadcast media
- digital art
- photography or
Nominees must be based in the city of Manchester (not Greater Manchester, but the area covered by Manchester City Council) or have a track record of delivering activity for the benefit of the people that live in or visit the city, or that benefits the local economy.
Achievements must have taken place between 1 April 2019 and 31 March 2021*
*There are two Covid related categories for achievements between 1 March 2020 and 31 March 2021 only. They’re for awards that celebrate the innovation, collaboration and imagination shown by Manchester’s culture scene as it responded to the challenges of the pandemic.
After judging, the top nominees in each category will be invited to a prestigious dinner and awards ceremony in November, at which the winners will be announced. Hopefully the event will be live with 300-400 guests, but if restrictions are still in place, it may be adapted to an online format.
Please email email@example.com if you have any questions about the awards.
