Old Road

The Council of the City of Manchester in exercise of its power under Section 129A (1) of the Highways Act 1980 ("the Act") and of all other enabling powers being satisfied that the conditions set out in Section 129A (3) of the Act have been met hereby makes the following Order:

Except as provided in Article 2 of this Order no person shall use the public right of way over the alleyway ("the Highway") described in the Schedule to this Order at any time.

The restriction in Article 1 to this Order shall not apply to any person who lives in premises adjoining the Highways or to any police, ambulance or fire service personnel acting in pursuance of statutory powers or duties or to any statutory undertaker, gas, electricity, water or communications provider requiring access to their apparatus situated in the Highways.

Barriers may be installed, operated and maintained at each end of the Highways. Private Sector Housing, Central Operations Division is responsible for maintaining and operating any barriers. Their contact telephone number is 0161 234 4904.

The alternative routes for pedestrians and vehicular traffic which are available for use during the period the Highways are restricted are the roads specified in Schedule 2.

Alleyway running from Walter's Terrace to Middlesex Road for 24 metres for its full width to the rear of 12 to 22 Old Road. Alleyway running from Middlesex Road to Surrey Road for 54 metres for its full width to the rear of 24 to 44 Old Road and alongside 2 Surrey Road. Alleyway running from Surrey Road for 56 metres in a south easterly direction for its full width to the rear of 46 to 72 Old Road . Alleyway from Sidney Road in a westerly direction for 74.5 metres for its full width to the rear 104 to 74 Old Road. Alleyway from Sidney Road to Wilson Road for 84.5 metres for its full width to the rear of 106 to 138 Old Road. Alleyway running in between 84 and 86 Old Road for 22 metres for its full width. Alleyway running in between 118 and 120 Old Road for 19.5 metres for its full width.
