  1. Ward-specific objectives

    Nature and Biodiversity:

    • Support Levenshulme in Bloom throughout the year. Aim for 30 applications to North West in Bloom.
    • 4,700 Trees Project: Work with community groups, Manchester Metropolitan University, and Council teams throughout the year. Seek funding for more trees.
    • My Wild Neighbourhood: Plant 1,000 bulbs with residents and 10 community groups or schools over the year.
    • Establish a new alleyway greening project with Groundwork's Postcode Gardener by the end of the year.

    Young People:

    • Undertake three engagement activities focused on the environment and climate change over the year.

    Sustainable Transport, Active Travel, and Air Quality:

    • Bike Safety Sessions: Secure funding with Bee Pedal Ready for "Bling Your Bike" sessions during Road Safety Week in November 2025. Engage 100 residents.
    • Green Screens: Secure funding for air pollution-blocking green screens in schools. Aim for one school per ward. Use Lancaster University’s 2022 study to guide planting decisions.
    • Friends of Levenshulme Station: Help the group to organise and meet regularly over the year.

    Things We Buy, Use and Throw Away:

    • Ensure Biffa or partners attend all events. Help them engage at least 50 residents on waste and recycling.
    • Single-Use Plastics: Avoid single-use plastics such as disposable coffee cups at events throughout the year.
    • Forgotten Streets of Manchester: Build on the Bickerdike Avenue project over the year by hosting at least one volunteer action day.
    • Great British Spring Clean: Hold two events in March 2026. Contribute to the city-wide campaign.

    Sustainable Food:

    • Fund two projects with Neighbourhood Investment Funding focused on food growing or sustainable food provision.

    Homes and Energy Efficiency:

    • ECO4 Eligibility: Encourage households to take up the support scheme. Aim for 50 referrals to the GMCA Retrofit Portal over the year.
    • Carbon Coop Engagement: Learn from their retrofit project and share experiences across the city.

    Engagement, Raising Awareness, Influencing Change:

    • Host a climate or Clean and Green summit by the end of the year. Hear residents' ideas for the action plan.
    • Climate Change Events: Work with Noor Masjid Mosque and Belvoir Community Garden to put on another event during the year.
