Gorton Hub email updates privacy notice

This form has been created to collect your work email address so you can receive updates and communications related to Gorton Hub. 
By opting in, you agree to receive the following types of communications from Manchester City Council: 

• Monthly updates on events and activities at Gorton Hub 
• Broadcasts about building-related issues 
• Information on events, activities, and opportunities across Gorton Hub 
• Feedback requests, including surveys and questionnaires 
• Opportunities in Gorton, including training, employment, conferences, and more 

We will never send spam or unrelated content. Your email address will be handled in accordance with our obligations under the UK GDPR and our Privacy Notice , which you can view before subscribing. 

• To subscribe to the email update service, we require your work email address to complete the sign-up process.
• This email address is then stored in a secure database that is only accessible via the Gorton Hub service integration manager (GHSIM) based within the Council.
• Your email address will be the only identifying factor about you and will only be used to send you emails that you subscribe to.

This privacy notice explains what personal information is collected by Manchester City Council and what it is used for. The notice also describes the legal basis on which it does this. This privacy notice relates to the Gorton Hub email updates service and should be read together with our general privacy notice, which provides more detail.

Subscribe

To subscribe to the email update service, we require your work email address to complete the sign-up process. This email address is then stored in a secure database that is only accessible via the Gorton Hub service integration manager (GHSIM) based within the Council. Your email address will be the only identifying factor about you and will only be used to send you emails that you subscribe to. 

Unsubscribing 

You can unsubscribe at any time by: 

• Emailing: gortonhub@manchester.gov.uk
• Re-visiting the form and submitting an unsubscribe request 

We will remove your details from our distribution list within 5 working days. 
If you leave your employment, please notify us so we can update our records. 

Under UK data protection law, we must have a lawful basis to process your data. For the purpose of the email updates and marketing communications: 

• Consent (Article 6 (1)(a) UK GDPR). By completing the sign-up form and providing your work email address, you are consenting to receive email updates and communications from us until a point in which you unsubscribe from the service. You can unsubscribe at any time, and your information will be removed from our system upon request.  

• We collect your data directly from you when you complete the sign-up form.
   

Unsubscribing 

You can unsubscribe at any time by: 

• Emailing: gortonhub@manchester.gov.uk
• Re-visiting the form and submitting an unsubscribe request

If you leave your employment, please notify us so we can update our records. 

• Your information will not be shared with anyone other than the GHSIM. Your information will not be further shared unless we are required to do so by law. 
• In no circumstances will your personal details be shared with external third parties for marketing or other commercial purposes.

We may retain your data for up to 6 years. You may receive requests to confirm your subscription every two years to ensure we have an accurate database. If upon request at the 2 year intervals, we do not receive a reply from you to continue sending emails to you with your consent, we will remove your data from our database. You can also unsubscribe at any time. If you decide to opt-out of or withdraw your consent to receiving emails about Gorton Hub, we will no longer use your personal data for this purpose and your data will be removed from our system within 5 working days.  

Your data protection rights 

You have the right to withdraw your consent to receiving email updates and marketing communications at any time relating to the Gorton Hub.  

In addition, you can find out more about your rights under the UK GDPR. Your rights apply to the information held by the Council as a data controller 

Where we get your data 

We collect your data directly from you when you complete the sign-up form. 

• If you have any questions or concerns about how we use your personal information, please contact the Council’s Data Protection Officer.
• You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office if you're unhappy about how we process your information.
