Year of the Rabbit Chinese New Year Celebration, featuring a 175ft long dragon parade, illuminated dragon and lion dances.

Celebrate Chinese New Year in Manchester at this annual event organised by the Federation of Chinese Associations of Manchester.  

This year’s celebrations will get underway at 12 noon on Saturday 21 January in Piccadilly Gardens, with a Chinese market open every day until 7pm on Sunday 29 January.  

The main event will take place on Sunday 22 January. In China Town, there will be staged performances of acrobatics, singing, poetry readings, dancing and kung fu from 12 noon – 7pm along with a market, food stalls, lion dances, workshops and a funfair.

A traditional Dragon Parade will depart from Manchester Central Convention Complex at 12 noon. The dragon parade will make its way to China Town via Mount Street, Peter Street, Oxford Street, Portland Street, Princess Street and Faulkner Street.

Don’t miss performances from the Night Dragon in China Town at 5pm and 6pm on Sunday 22 January, and also at 6pm on Sunday 29 January.
