It is the vehicle owner who is responsible for renewing the vehicle licence.
All renewal applications must be made and payment received 10 working days prior to the date of expiry of the licence, it is your responsibility to ensure your licence does not expire. Your licence is at risk if you do not renew prior to the date of expiry; a new application will need to be submitted if your licence has expired (*except in the case of hackney carriage vehicle proprietor licence).
*A new application for a hackney carriage vehicle proprietor licence cannot be submitted - your licence is at risk if you do not renew it before the date of expiry, this also applies if you are replacing the vehicle.
You are renewing your vehicle with a change of vehicle (replacement) - if you have replaced your vehicle it must comply with the Manchester conditions of fitness, please ensure that you have read and understood the requirements before deciding to replace your vehicle. It is compulsory for you to complete and submit the suitability questionnaire (Private Hire) or the compatibility questionnaire (Hackney Carriage). Please note that in order to attract the full 12 month licence, it is advisable to replace a vehicle at the renewal time.
Within this process the following items will need to be uploaded:
- V5 log book (front and second page);
- Brand new vehicles only, we require; Bill of sale (letter from the manufacture/dealership stating the vehicle is brand new with delivery mileage only), VIN and engine numbers; and
You also need to complete the suitability questionnaire (Private Hire) or the compatibility questionnaire (Hackney Carriage) Your application can not be progressed until the completed questionnaire have been received.
