Social services Equipment and adaptations for independent living

Minor adaptations to your home to stay independent

Minor adaptations are physical changes to your home which cost less than £1000. They can include things like grab rails, half steps, lever taps and more.

They are simple changes which make it easier to do things for yourself.

You may be eligible for a minor adaptation following a telephone conversation with one of our trained contact officers. In some cases a home visit might be required to help us understand more complex needs. We'll identify if this is needed in the initial phone conversation.

If the need for a minor adaptation is identified as part of an assessment, there is no charge for the equipment or the installation.

Get in touch to arrange a service

If you think you might benefit from a minor adaptation to your home, get in touch with us through our Contact Service on 0161 234 5001.

When you do, we'll ask you some questions about the things you are having difficulty with, as there might be lots of other products or services, as well as adaptations to your home which could help you stay as independent as possible.

You might also like to have a look at Help and Support Manchester, our directory of services, opportunities and activities, many of which are free and could help to maintain your independence and promote your wellbeing.
