Consultations and surveys Consultation: 2020 Admission Arrangements

Admission Arrangements for Community and Voluntary Controlled Schools

This consultation is closed.

We’re proposing a change to the oversubscription criteria for community and voluntary controlled schools. This includes the admission into school for children who have previously been in state care outside of England.

Background

As the Admissions Authority for community and voluntary controlled schools in Manchester, we are required to draft, consult on and determine our admission arrangements. If there are more applicants than places available, we will apply the admission arrangements to decide who will be offered a place.

Voluntary aided schools, foundation schools, free schools and academies set their own admission arrangements.

All of the admissions arrangements for all Manchester schools are published online

Changes made

The consultation period ended on 31 December 2018, no comments or objections were received based on the website consultation.

We have made changes to both the Primary and In Year admissions oversubscription criteria. The section now reads:

"Children who were looked after or in state care outside of England and ceased to be in state care as a result of being adopted. A child is regarded as having been in state care in a place outside of England if they were accommodated by a public authority, a religious organisation or another professional provider of care."
