We have been working closely with ward councillors from Rusholme and Moss Side to develop a resident parking scheme for the Rusholme and Moss Side area. The scheme has been designed to:
- discourage all-day commuter parking to make it easier for residents to park close to their homes as well as to improve road safety and the flow of traffic,
- to ensure that non-residents who wish to park while they visit friends and family and the many businesses and restaurants in the area can do so.
We now have a proposal and we’d like to hear what residents have to say.
The proposals include:
- Parking bays with varying maximum stays permitted and with different times of operation for visitors. In more residential areas, permit holders are exempt from the restriction and can park for an unlimited amount of time.
- Residents only ‘past this point’ streets. These will be on smaller streets and cul-de-sacs, and only residents or visitors with permits can park during the times indicated. There will be no bay markings in these areas which allows flexibility to organise the way in which you park.
- ‘No Waiting at Any Time’ (double yellow lines) and ‘No Loading at Any Time’ (double kerb markings) to improve visibility and safety.
- H-bars (access highlight markings) outside private driveways
Parking permits are available for every vehicle registered at an address within the scheme area. In addition, visitor permits, carers permits, student permits, business owner and business visitor permits are available.
