Consultations and surveys Consultation on the process for changing property use to residential phase two

What is this?

This consultation closed on 15 November

There are some things which everyone has a right to change about their property without having to apply for full planning permission. This right is known as “permitted development”. An Article 4 Direction is a legal process which a council can use to remove particular types of permitted development. The Council has recently made three sets of Article 4 Directions to remove the right to change the use of a property to residential.

These Directions will be relevant to anyone who own a non-residential building and or are thinking about converting it into houses or flats.
