Newton Heath - have your say
We are looking at how best Manchester’s district centres can benefit from future growth. Newton Heath district centre and the Old Church Street area have been chosen because of its huge potential.
The first step is to prepare a long-term strategy, this will be called the Newton Heath Neighbourhood Development Framework (NDF). This Framework will help to both promote and co-ordinate future investment.
As part of this work, we would like to ask what is important to you about the District Centre and what you think of some of the suggested ideas for the future.
We will use your comments to inform the Framework, and going forward, how we implement it.
The Framework currently focuses on these ideas:
- Improving and expanding community facilities such as the library.
- Improving health care facilities.
- Providing new high-quality housing.
- Better public spaces that are more welcoming, safe and enjoyable.
- A more vibrant ‘high street’ (Old Church Street) by improving the shopping environment.
- Measures to help reduce traffic congestion.
- Making it easier to move around on foot or by bicycle.
Further details can be found in the consultation boards.
