I’m Chris Boardman, Cycling and Walking Commissioner for Greater Manchester, and it pretty much is as it says on the tin.

My job is to get more people cycling and walking, and we’ve got a lot of short journeys in Manchester - 250 million a year of less than a kilometre in a car, and a lot of them are coming to schools. So if we can get more people cycling and walking to school, everybody wins.

Manchester City Council is already working with a lot schools in the area to help them walk to school, and do it safely, which is what all parents want, and it’s the kind of initiative we want to see and get behind.

manchester.gov.uk/roadsafety is the place to go if you want to know more about how to travel in your community safely.
