September 2021 update

This policy and procedure complies with relevant legislation and is in line with DFE (Department for Education) publications ‘Elective Home Education: guidance for local authorities’ (April 2019) and ‘Elective Home Education: guidance for parents’ (April 2019).

We have also taken account of further non statutory guidance published on the DfE’s Education Hub.

We have discussed this document with home educating parents, schools, Health partners, the MCC Legal Team, MCC Education teams, MCC Children’s Services teams and Elected Members, and have taken account of their feedback in this final version.

We aim to review this policy at least every two years or following changes to legislation or Government guidance.
